More about Tom.....

Playing Background – I began playing soccer at the age of 6 and played for my local town team from then on. When in high school I was heavily involved with the school team and was invited to attend multiple trials. At the age of 16, I suffered my second major ankle injury and was advised by doctors that my ankles wouldn’t be able to handle the workload of pursuing my dream to play as a professional footballer. After getting this news I turned my attention to coaching and started to attend coaching courses and looked to gain experience where I could.

Coaching Experience – At 18 I got my first coaching job working at Bolton Wanderers Football Club, the team that I grew up supporting. Back in 2006 when I started at Bolton Wanderers they were an established team in the English Premier League. For many of my years there, Bolton was managed by current Everton Manager, Sam Allardyce. I was able to learn his philosophies and watch first-hand the coaching sessions that Sam Allardyce delivered. I worked in many roles at Bolton such as community coach, heath and inclusion officer, junior whites head coach, and international academy coach. Through some of these roles I was able to coach players who have now moved on to play professionally in the game. I remained at Bolton for 6 years before making the decision to move to America to gain more coaching experience. In 2012 I joined Challenger Sports which gave me the opportunity to come to the US and coach in 9 different states on the East Coach. I was then placed in a long term position to run all the coaching at a club in NY. While there I wrote a curriculum for the travel and rec programs, coached all the teams and developed the clubs coaches by running coaching clinics. In 2015 I moved to Norwalk to start with Everton America as a full time coach. After one year with the club I was appointed as the Head of Youth Development, running all age groups U9 and below. Another year later at the club I became the Boys Director of Coaching.
